The Little Lord Street Band release their debut 10 track album 'A Minute of Another Day' 11 September 2020.
Perth’s alt-country folk group The Little Lord Street Band return with their emotionally driven debut LP A Minute of Another Day, slotted for release on Friday 11 September. After having to cancel their ‘Fighting for Air’ national Tour due to COVID-19, the band will be hitting the road for a WA tour which will see them heading both north and south along the coast.
What the band deem as a ‘mixed-bag’ of songs and collated between singer songwriters James Rogers and Natasha Shanks, A Minute of Another Day takes you in a familiar yet new direction. The LP is an eclectic blend of genres, ranging from country to folk with smatterings of indie, pop and rock in there too, all while retaining the characteristic Little Lord Street sound.
From the opening strums of ‘Frankie’s Back In Town’, to the uplifting chorus in the title track, through to the thought provoking lyrics of ‘Through The Night’ and ‘At The Bar’, and finishing on the triumphant final notes of ‘Fighting For Air’, this album touches on subjects of love, loss, anxiety, depression, social awakenings and changes. A Minute of Another Day delivers on a wide range of songs and sounds and it is reflective of both Rogers and Shanks; whilst firing in all directions, it moves together as one.
The album took form from 2017 to 2018 with several songs written with fellow West Australian songwriter Bri Clark. A fruitful new union formed via the APRA Songhubs workshops in 2018 which Shanks and Rogers attended alongside Clark, the product of which was title track ‘A Minute of Another Day’ and ‘Through The Night’.
Further finessed through pre-production and performing live, the ten track album was recorded with Dan Carroll at Rada Studios in early 2019. Working with Carroll was an easy decision for the band due to their previous work with Carroll. The full band, including Michael Savage (Bass), Alex Megaw (Drums) and Belle Harvey (Mandolin and Harmonica), knuckled down to deliver this milestone of work.
In one way fresh-faced and yet in another, a well-travelled musical outfit singing and playing what they see, know and love, A Minute of Another Day is an album that both tells the story and reflects on the history of this band and its seven years in the making.

This one took a few listens. The first time, it went in all at once, like a corkscrew punched through the soft slab of abdomen, there on my side. I hardly noticed. Then it started to jiggle and wriggle around in there, and slowly — twist by twist, track by track — I came to realize what a bloody, brilliant mess I had on my hands. veryvery
